PRESSURE<\/span>\n\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Hose and fitting selection should be made so that the maximum recommended working pressure of the hose and fitting is equal to or greater than the maximum system pressure. Water hammer in the system should be less than the maximum working pressure of the hose.<\/p>\n

In general, water hammer can be determined by sensitive electronic instrumentation that measures and displays pressures in millisecond intervals.<\/p>\n

Mechanical pressure gauges indicate only average pressures and cannot be used to determine water hammer.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BURST PRESSURE<\/p>\n

Hydraulic hoses have a pressure design factor of 4:1, which means that the burst pressure (hose destruction) is at least 4 times the published working pressure. Published hose burst pressures are for manufacturing test purposes only. Burst pressure should never play a major role in the selection of a hose.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

PRESSURE TESTING<\/p>\n

This test is generally performed at the customer's request according to a method defined by ISO 1402. The test should be performed at normal ambient temperature on a test rig using water or other suitable liquid. The hose should be pressurized for 30 to 60 seconds at twice its working pressure. No leakage or pressure drop should occur. A complete test report shall be provided to the customer together with the hose.<\/p>\n
