Clamps

Clamps

WHAT IS A CLAMP?

A clamp is a device used to hold cylindrical parts through a ring-shaped band. Its main and most common function is to fix metal pipes or ducts to a wall or flat surface, and to fasten connections or couplings to a hose.

Some of the models incorporate a screw that is in charge of closing the band to exert the necessary pressure on the cylinder.

PARTS OF A CLAMP

The most common parts in terms of their different shapes:

  • Band or ring: This part comes into direct contact with the part because it completely or partially envelops it.
  • Clamping element: This is usually a screw, either embedded in the wall or the mechanism used to close the band (some clamps do not have a clamping element).

TYPES OF CLAMPS

There are several ways to classify clamps, either by their shape, their construction, their material, etc. In this opportunity we will first classify them by the pressure they exert to hold the parts.

  • Low Pressure: Within this category we find different shapes and types of clamps, these are mainly used for fluids and gases. Each of them have the same characteristic in common and this is that the pressure they exert is low.

  • Medium Pressure: We can find few types, but each one with different characteristics and construction, except for the pressure they exert.

  • High Pressure. We can find two different models, the super and the supra, these use screws with hexagonal nuts for easy tightening with different tools.

  • Automotive. All these types are designed to be used in hoses that are in constant movement or that generate temperature changes, mainly in machines that have engines.

We will now classify them according to their use.

  • Isophonic. They are used in pipes that transport any type of liquid or gases, since the different types of isophonic clamps always have a rubber capable of isolating vibrations, noises and avoids corrosion of the pipes.

  • For Pipes. A wide variety of pipe clamps are available.
