- An aging control system should be maintained to allow the hose to be used before it has reached its storage life.
- The storage life is the time during which the hose can be expected to retain its full capabilities to provide its intended service.
- Hose shall be stored in a manner that facilitates aging control and allows for FIFO (first in, first out), according to the date of manufacture of the hose or crimped hose.
- If visual inspection should raise any doubt about the functionality of the hose (cracks in the cover, rust, etc.), a pressure test should be performed before use or, if not, the hose should be discarded.
HOSE SERVICE LIFE
- ISO/TR 17165-2 states that the shelf life of hose as stored hose or as hose manufactured from 2 or more materials should not exceed 40 quarters (10 years) from the date of manufacture, if stored in accordance with ISO 2230.
- According to DIN 20066:2002-10: The hose should be used before 4 years, according to its date of manufacture. The service life of a hose assembly, including any storage period, should not exceed 6 years; the storage period should not exceed 2 of these 6 years.
